Release candidates are now available for Inforama 1.4 Community and Enterprise Editions. We expect to make a full release in the week beginning 14th December so final feedback is now needed.

This version makes changes mainly to the Enterprise version of Inforama, allowing users to be managed from the Enterprise applicaiton and UI improvements in general. Additional security has been added to the web service call with user names and passwords required for these interactions. As part of this release the CSV datasource has been included allowing PDFs to me merged with data from CSV files. More output formatsInforama now allows OpenOffice documents to be merged with data and returned as OpenOffice documents which can be edited further. This merging doesn't require OpenOffice to be installed on the machine running the Inforama engine which means that documents can be generated this way on Inforama Enterprise without having to launch OpenOffice.Plug-in supportInforama 1.2 introduces some basic plug-in development architecture which allows custom datasources and user screens to be defined. This feature will be extended further with some industty specific plugins in future versions. Look out for the plug-in which allows documents to be generated from data in Salesforce.

Other document management systems which comply with the JSR170 standard can also be integrated with relative ease. More advanced table creationBased on user feedback the ways in which tables can be created and manipulated within OpenOffice documents have have extended. Columns or rows can be included or excluded depending on data being processed. Cell values and formats can also be manipulated directly. For more advanced processing of tables custom Java code can be written to manipulate the styles directly. Also new is the ability to create table templates for reuse accross multiple documents.Office2fO conversionVersion 1.1 sees the introduction of the Office2fO transformation library for converting OpenOffice files. This provides a more accurate reproduction of the OpenOffice documents.
